The Applitech Satellite Series of modular Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) delivers high-speed, high-reliability remote monitoring and control across electrical utilities, water and wastewater systems, energy management, oil and gas, and large industrial facilities. Three product families cover the range from compact deployments to flagship installations.
Overview
Satellite RTUs are PLC-based and support every mainstream serial and fieldbus protocol: serial Modbus, Modbus Plus, DNP 3.0, FIP, Interbus S, Profibus, and Modbus Ethernet, among others. The family is engineered for adverse environments including marine, desert, and other harsh installations, and it provides an open development architecture for future system integration.
Pioneer family
Pioneer is the most versatile, low-cost option in the line. It pairs a compact processor with the communications and data-collection peripherals needed to support water and wastewater, electrical distribution, and similar applications. Pump-Smart, an Applitech turnkey configurator for sewer lift and water pumping stations, runs on Pioneer and supports up to four constant-speed or VFD pumps with full alarm handling. Pioneer is the recommended choice for installations under 256 I/O points in standard environments.
Mariner family
Mariner adds extended temperature support from minus 40 to 70 degrees Celsius, conformal coatings for high-humidity service, and GPS time synchronization for time-critical applications such as substation monitoring. Mariner supports special-function loadables, including AGA-approved gas flow calculation, salt water disposal, and net oil analysis. It is sized for installations under 512 I/O points and for any extremely harsh environment.
Voyager family
Voyager is the flagship for the largest, most time-critical applications. A single Voyager supports up to 64,000 I/O points and a selection of more than 80 specialized I/O modules. Features include 1 ms Sequence of Events recording, DNP 3.0 protocol emulation, report-by-exception, wireless Ethernet, and a seamless hot-standby backup processor. The Safe-Voyager variant is available with purged NEMA 4X enclosures or intrinsically safe I/O for hazardous Class I locations.
Operator interfaces
All Satellite RTUs ship with an Operator Interface Terminal or HMI matched to the customer's site standard. Magelis, Maple Systems, Nematron, CTC, Omron, Cutler & Hammer, PanelView, and Azonics are all supported. On the host side, Applitech routinely integrates with iFIX, InTouch, PCIM, RSView, WinCC, and Citect, plus touchscreen, barcode, RF, and inductive card input devices.
Why Satellite Series
Modular construction, open protocols, and a 20-year SCADA pedigree make the Satellite Series a low-risk choice for long-life infrastructure. Customers pick the enclosure rating, materials of construction, and protocol mix that matches their site, and benefit from a single hardware family across thousands of deployed I/O points.
