Applitech Electrical SCADA (eSCADA) is a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition platform deployed by private, commercial, and municipal electrical utilities. Each installation is engineered to match the field equipment, communications fabric, and operational rules of the specific utility.
Overview
Applitech eSCADA installations have improved performance and reliability at electrical generation facilities and distribution systems worldwide, with major utility deployments delivered in Connecticut, New Jersey, Missouri, and California. Each system is purpose-built for the customer's grid topology, operator workflows, and ISO interface requirements.
Commonly requested capabilities
- 01Automated electronic dispatch integrated with the ISO dispatch system
- 02AGC control of steam plant generators driven by ISO AGC commands
- 03Remote monitoring of fuel systems and field instrumentation
- 04Protective circuit breaker and recloser monitoring and control
- 05Historical data collection and customized operational reports
- 06Automatic Load Tap-Changer (LTC) control and monitoring
- 07Critical alarm dispatch to workstations, pagers, and mobile phones
- 08Advanced digital power monitoring and IED integration
Protocol support and connectivity
Applitech RTUs and gateways support Modbus serial and TCP, IEC 60870, DNP 3.0 serial and TCP, L&G 8979, Harris 5000/6000, PG&E 2179, Conitel 300/2020, Betac/Getac, and Tejas. Multiple protocols can run simultaneously and bridge to one another, with strict authorization rules ensuring that only sanctioned data is read or written across each interface.
- 01ISO SCADA interfacing via L&G 8979 over leased-line modems
- 02GE/Harris D20 RTU integration over DNP 3.0 serial
- 03Generation company WAN access via DNP TCP or Modbus TCP
- 04Facility-wide Ethernet SCADA with ISO acknowledgment
- 05Integration with PI Historian and corporate databases
Communications and customization
Applitech engineers have used virtually every transmission medium: 802.11 wireless, frame relay, multi-drop leased lines, radio Ethernet, fiber optic TCP/IP, cellular, microwave, and satellite. Each utility SCADA system is fitted to a long-term operating model rather than shrink-wrapped, so existing field equipment, protective relays, and communications networks are preserved where it makes sense.
Why eSCADA
Applitech treats seamless communications as a discipline, not an afterthought. Combined with non-proprietary equipment design and decades of utility experience, this delivers SCADA systems that remain serviceable, extensible, and ISO-interoperable across multi-decade lifecycles.
